Trace (and Focus)

For anyone who's interested, I've posted two songs by Trace on my Ning tribepolitics profile:

tribepolitics.ning.com/profile/Enrika

They're the first two songs. I've put them up there because so few people know who they are, and I wanted to give anyone interested a taste. They're 1970s Dutch prog rock, like Focus. I've heard them called "a poor man's Focus," but I think that's unfair. Their self-titled album is great in its own right. The first song cuts off a bit abruptly because it actually continues through three tracks, but it's not a bad cut-off point.

(I've also posted two Focus songs, but they're not my two favorites or anything like that. I know someone who plays flute in a rock/blues band who's never heard of Focus, and I want to share with him two good examples of Focus's use of melodic flute in rock, which they are.)

If anyone listens to the Trace tracks, let me know what you think. I'll be most curious about the reaction.

    Hi Enrika,

    Thanks for sharing. Nice stuff!

More than anything, I'm hearing lots of ELP as opposed to Focus. There's a particular emphasis on keyboards here for sure, along with lots of nods to different classical pieces, the names of which I can't identify, lol.

I grew up on this kind of music in the 70s and could definitely see this being in my collection, had I heard about them then! :)

      I live to serve. :)

I agree with your assessment. I think Trace is unfairly compared to Focus simply because they're both 1970s Dutch prog, but they're really quite different.
